Playlist of shorts & scores from Silent Films Out Loud 2019

Silent Films Out Loud returns to the big screen for the fourth time on Thursday November 11th, pairing local composers with a trio of films perfectly tailored to a much needed evening of escapism. Shorts from comedic icon Buster Keaton bookend this showing, beginning with Calliope Musicals frontwoman Carrie Fussell scoring 1923’s The Balloonatic, followed by Jackie Myers putting new sounds to Georges Méliès’ pioneering sci-fi flick Le Voyage Dans la Lune (or Trip to the Moon), and ending with a collective of Akins Early College High School students known as The Akins New Music Ensemble under the direction of Thomas Mann contributing a composition to Keaton’s Convict 13 from 1920. Cinema lovers can take their seats at Violet Crown located at 434 W. 2nd Street starting at 7 p.m.
